Dr Emma Glamuzina returned to New Zealand in 2011 after completing her training in Clinical Genetics and working as a metabolic consultant at Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children in London, United Kingdom. She became the second metabolic consultant for the Adult and Paediatric National Metabolic Service. She continues in this role today and is clinical lead of this service, Clinicians Representative for ASIEM and an Honorary Lecturer at the University of Auckland. She is a general metabolic specialist, looking after people across the lifespan, with a focus on excellence and equity of clinical care for metabolic patients throughout Aotearoa.

She has a particular interest in undiagnosed patients, neuro-metabolic, mitochondrial diseases, rare disorder treatment and access, and disorders of intermediary metabolism. Central to her practice are the concepts of manaakitanga and whanaungatanga: focussing on working with the multi-disciplinary team to guide patients and whānau through the complex journey these rare disorders take them on.
