Rare Disorders NZ has written to Hon. David Seymour, Associate Minister of Health (Pharmac) in anticipation of his Letter of Expectations to Pharmac at the end of the month, asking that he include a directive to action priorities outlined in the Rare Disorders Strategy, similar to what was included in last year's letter, but with the additional request to explore the possibility of a separate assessment pathway for rare disorder medicines.

In the letter we also highlighted our concerns about the time being taken to assess rare disorder medicines, and we included a table outlining a number of rare medicines that are currently stuck in the assessment phase at Pharmac.
